“Success is the sum of small efforts, repeated day in and day out.”—Robert Collier

PREDICTING THE FUTURE

As creators, we often dream of that one breakthrough moment when our work catapults us to success. We envision the standing ovation at our art show, the glowing reviews of our debut album, or the rocket-ship growth of our business after launch. While you should treasure these moments, they don’t hold the key to our success. Instead, your success is a manifestation of what’s constantly happening inside you, your habits, choices, and actions.

Predicting the future is impossible, but you can shape your creative destiny by integrating creativity into your daily routine. Your habits and rituals have the power to direct the trajectory of your life. Your life is the accumulation of these countless moments weaved into countless days. In these seemingly insignificant moments, the essence of your future lies dormant, awaiting your conscious attention. The small choices you make day in and day out, the seemingly mundane habits you cultivate, possess a profound influence on your creative goals, dreams, and desires.

THE POWER OF COMMITMENT

Commitment is the most transformative trait you can implement to change your life. Once you identify the actions required to reach your goals and dreams, you can ignore the worries of the future and the insecurities of the past and focus on making the most out of the path you chose. When you commit in the face of failure, despair, and pain, you will inevitably flourish. This applies to committing to people, a process, and your craft.

Commitment is the bridge between being an ordinary creator and becoming an extraordinary one. The most successful creators have the discipline to create a plan for who they want to become and what they want to create and commit to it, day in and day out. They evolve from being a “creator” to being “creative.” It’s no longer a title; it’s a way of life. Integrate creativity into your daily routine, and you will soar. The longer you commit, the deeper you go. The deeper you go, the more surprising things you will learn about yourself, your craft, and your environment.

TIPPING POINT

In Malcolm Gladwell’s book titled The Tipping Point: How Little Things Can Make a Big Difference, he discusses a concept coined by sociologist Mark Granovetter in the 1970s called “tipping point.” The tipping point is the critical moment before an idea, trend, or behavior rapidly spreads, leading to significant and often unforeseen changes. Gladwell spends the entire book explaining the mysterious power of the tipping point and how it applies to the world around you.
